Samples of Scanner Acquire Menus
Here are the Acquire/Import menus of some popular image programs.
You would use these menus to start the scanner driver to scan a photo.

Select Twain Source (the scanner driver) and then Acquire
This free program (www.irfanview.com) is an excellent image viewer, and has good Batch Conversion options to resize and convert file type for multiple files at once.

Adobe Photoshop and Elements have similar menus. The latest versions simply show the twain sources (scanners) instead of another menu to select them.
